Linking Minoritised Ethnic Families & Communities Learning Resources
These learning resources reflect the experience and wisdom of families from minoritised ethnic communities, who have journeyed together in our Linking Families & Communities Project, since 2016.
We’re indebted to our project funder, The National Lottery Community Fund, and to the Childcare Partnership for Northern Ireland, for supporting the publication of emerging learning.
In sharing these materials, we hope they help to amplify the voices of families from minoritised ethnic communities and to make systems and services as flexible, child-centred and outcomes-focused as these families already are.
“You Do Not Know What You Have Not Lived.”
This Project Learning Report explains our service model and how it links to internationally evidenced theories of social change, focusing on inclusion and improving outcomes for children and families. It also includes key statistics and own-voice contributions from project participants.
The Linking Families & Communities Charter Poster
Developed with and for families, the Charter sets out the reasonable expectations that families from minoritised ethnic communities have when seeking and receiving family support. This A3 poster can be displayed by organisations and used as training or monitoring tool to benchmark and improve family support services.
The Linking Families & Communities Charter Video
This video brings the Linking Families & Communities Charter to life with own-voice contributions from families and practitioners. It can be used as a training or advocacy tool and is available with or without subtitles:

Charter Pocket Guide for Families
This version of the Charter is intended as a support tool for families, who can carry it with them when engaging with services for family support. It’s a reminder of their own expertise and rights. Pocket guides are available in:
