- Education and training: introducing people to the various education, training and development courses available to them in the area, while also supporting them through the referral and application process.
- Promoting good relations: working with minority groups in the community, we organise and facilitate various shared community activities and workshops throughout the year. We also participate in a number of consultation processes conducted by the public sector.
- Funding awareness: promoting and encouraging links to public funds so that community groups can grow and develop.
- Topical workshops: STEP organises a range of workshops throughout our local area, which aim to inform people in our local community about the assistance available to them in times of particular need.
- Signposting: acting as a conduit for the sharing of information and contacts with community groups and individuals across Mid-Ulster.
Community Development
The focus of the STEP Community Development team is on helping to create an environment that promotes democracy, sustainable development, equality, economic opportunity and social justice.
We believe that these can result in social, environmental and economic improvement within the community.
